31 Mar NEWS: Launch of the ‘DRAX Indoor Marathon’, with a total prize of ₩50 million
DRAX, Korea’s No.1 fitness brand, is launching the ‘DRAX Indoor Marathon’,
which involves running the entire lap on an indoor treadmill.
This unprecedented competition will be held at IVEX Hyper Hall in Gwangmyeong on April 22-23
to expand the safe and healthy indoor running culture that allows you
to run 365 days regardless of weather and environment.
Running is an exercise with diverse excellent effects,
including strengthening cardiovascular endurance and muscles and increasing bone density.
In particular, it’s medically recognized that your heart rate increases when running,
causing more oxygen and blood to induce hormone secretion in the brain, which also accelerates brain cell growth.
Additionally, a marathon is an exercise with many advantages in managing body fat.
Professional marathon athletes have 10% less average body fat, and for elite marathon athletes, it sometimes falls to 6-8%. ‘Marathon’ is surely the best medicine God has given to humans.
Marathon, which has so many benefits, has become an exercise possible indoors.
DRAX, the event’s host, has made it possible to have an indoor marathon using treadmills equipped
with automatic speed control, the first in the world.
For regular treadmills, you have to press the button to control the speed,
making running a marathon at your own pace impossible.
These treadmills also have a higher risk of joint injury due to the limitation of the treadmill cushioning.

The marathon will be divided into individual and team competitions.
Firstly, the individual competition consists of 5km, 10km, and 21km events for men and women each, and you can participate in multiple events.
The team competition consists of a single 21km event.
Please note that you can only participate in the team competition as a mixed-gender team of three.
The participants’ records will be counted live by linking the treadmill
and shown on the large electronic display panel installed on the wall.
The award will be given to 42 people from 1st to 7th in each individual event
and 5 teams from 1st to 5th in the team event, with a total prize of ₩50 million.
